The Independent Battalion West Virginia Infantry was an infantry battalion that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
Service[]
The Independent Battalion was organized at Wheeling in western Virginia between October 1, 1862 and January 9, 1863. The battalion remained in garrison in Wheeling during its entire service.
Company "B" of the battalion was mustered out on April 23, 1864. Company "A" of the battalion was mustered out on May 31, 1865.
