Columbia Falls, Maine— and Detroit Lakes, MN — 24 November , 2015 — Wreaths Across America (WAA), a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, announced that the Grand Army of the Republic Park in Detroit Lakes, MN has been designated as a location for wreath laying this year. Detroit Lakes will be joining wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and overseas.

Tom and Pam Mortenson of Detroit Lakes have been designated as Event Managers by Karen Worcester, WAA Executive Director. The Mortenson's, who were instrumental in the re-dedication of the Grand Army of the Republic Park in April will lead the effort in coordinating wreath laying at the G.A.R. Park with ceremonies across the Nation. “Addition of the Grand Army of the Republic Park marks another first for our community and reflects our continuing commitment to honor our veterans” Tom Mortenson said. Pam Mortenson added, "that fresh evergreens have been used for centuries as a symbol to recognize honor and Wreaths Across America sees the annual tradition as a living memorial to veterans and their families. “ “In the years ahead”, they hope to expand the program to other sites within the Detroit Lakes area to honor our veterans" Tom Mortenson said.
