The 8th Regiment Michigan Volunteer Cavalry was an cavalry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.


The 8th Michigan Cavalry was organized at Mt. Clemens, Michigan between December 30, 1862 and May 2, 1863.

The regiment was mustered out of service on September 22, 1865.

Total strength and casualties[]

The regiment suffered 1 officer and 41 enlisted men killed in action or mortally wounded and 2 officers and 290 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 334 fatalities.[1]
