'''Calvin Tilden Hulburd''' (June 5, 1809 - October 25, 1897) was a [[United States Representative]] from [[United States Congressional Delegations from New York|New York]] during the [[American Civil War]] and [[Reconstruction era of the United States|Reconstruction]]. ==Biography== Born in [[Stockholm, New York|Stockholm]], [[St. Lawrence County, New York|St. Lawrence County]], he completed preparatory studies and graduated from [[Middlebury College]] in [[Vermont]]. He attended [[Yale College]] Law School, was admitted to the [[barlaw|bar]] in 1833, and was a member of the [[New York State Assembly]] from 1842 to 1844 and in 1862. Hulburd was elected as a [[Republican Party (United States)|Republican]] to the Thirty-eighth, Thirty-ninth, and Fortieth Congresses, holding office from March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1869; while in the House he was chairman of the Committee on Public Expenditures (Thirty-eighth through Fortieth Congresses). He was superintendent of construction of the New York post office, and in 1897 died in [[Brasher Falls, New York]].
